Biography
The Dove & the Wolf feature Paloma Gil and Louise Hayat-Camard at the helm, where they shape introspective indie rock that occupies an unexpected space bridging dream pop with '70s soft rock. Having collaborated on music for several years during their teenage and early adult periods in Paris, the French songwriting pair established the Dove & the Wolf at the start of 2012. That September saw the arrival of their four-track self-titled EP. The pair spent 2014 on the road alongside Rachael Yamagata and Butch Walker, and they initiated work on their debut full-length during their time stateside.
After their initial one-year visas lapsed in the middle of 2015, the two returned to Paris, anticipating that fresh approvals would arrive within weeks. Instead, several months passed, encompassing the November 2015 Paris terrorism attacks. Those events left a deep imprint on the five-track EP I Don't Know What to Feel, which introduced bass player Andy Black and drummer Craig Hendrix to the group. Dave Hartley (the War on Drugs, Nightlands) and Nick Krill (the Spinto Band, Teen Men) handled recording and production in Philadelphia, the duo's chosen home base, before the EP appeared as a self-release in June 2016. Fat Possum subsequently signed the band, leading to the March 2017 release of an expanded seven-track edition of I Don't Know What to Feel as their first project for the label.
