Biography
Formed in Australia during 2004, the alternative rock outfit known as the Getaway Plan experienced rapid ascent. Within two years the quartet had already joined pop-punk peers Taking Back Sunday and the Used on the road while also appearing alongside Unwritten Law, Alkaline Trio, and My Chemical Romance. After issuing a demo in 2005, the band secured a contract with Boomtown and unveiled its first EP, the six-song Hold Conversation, the following year. That release paved the way for the full-length Other Voices, Other Rooms, tracked in Florida and issued in February 2008. Powered by opening track “Streetlight,” the album entered the Australian charts at number 14 and continued climbing. Bassist Dave Anderson, drummer Aaron Barnett, vocalist Matthew Wright, and guitarist Clint Splattering maintained a packed schedule through the remainder of 2008, including a national run supporting the Donnas. In February 2009, however, the group disclosed plans to disband later that year after completing one last Australian tour.
