The Hate Bombs originated in 1993 under the premise of existing as a one-record project, assembled in Orlando with Dave Ewing handling guitar and vocals alongside Mick Crowley on guitar, Ken Chiodini on drums, and Scott Sugiuchi on bass. Their debut single, “Peckinpah Man,” appeared on Speed-O-Meter Records just two months later, delivering a garage-revival take on 1960s punk. Despite receiving only modest local notice in Orlando, Florida, the group pressed ahead and drew favorable critical nods to acts such as The Mummies and Supercharger.

Over the ensuing four years the band maintained a steady schedule of shows along the Southeastern coast while issuing one EP each year, beginning with She’s The Girl in 1994, followed by Asphalt Eater in 1995 and What A Woman Wants in 1996. After delivering the One Thing On My Mind EP in 1997, they unveiled their first full-length album, Here Comes Treble, on 360 Twist Records that same year. Two years later the second album, Hunt You Down, arrived, by which time guitarist Fred Mullins had replaced the departed Mick Crowley.
