Biography
Formed in Los Angeles as a punk supergroup of sorts, The Joykiller assembled original and on-again-off-again T.S.O.L. members Jack Grisham on vocals and Ron Emory on guitar, along with ex-Gun Club and Weirdos bassist Billy Persons and veteran drummer Chris Lagerborg. After signing to Epitaph, the lineup expanded to five when session keyboardist Ronnie King, previously associated with Coolio, Mariah Carey, and 2Pac, joined the group. Their self-titled debut arrived in 1995, and the 1996 follow-up Static brought wider attention when Flipside magazine readers named the Joykiller the year's top artist. Three, the band's third release in three consecutive years, appeared in 1997. During the next decade Grisham and Emory returned to T.S.O.L. to record the 2001 album Disappear. ~ Andy Kellman
