Biography
The Knux consist of brothers Kentrell "Krispy" Lindsey, previously known as Krispy Kream, and Alvin "Joey" Lindsey, formerly Rah Al Millio. This New Orleans pair, displaced by Hurricane Katrina, operates as an alternative rap duo equally adept as musicians and singer/rappers. Their musically trained background led to early national exposure in late 2007 when they opened for Common on the Finding Forever tour. Onstage they wore throwback Adidas zip-ups and fat gold chains that stood apart from standard rap fashion, joined by the Symetrics live band and DJ Cobra, often leaving audiences confused and at times booing. After signing with Interscope Records, however, reception shifted once bloggers and other tastemakers began praising the act and noting ties to rap industry power broker Paul Rosenberg, manager of Eminem. The brothers' social media pages subsequently drew heavy traffic despite the absence of any commercially available music. "Cappuccino" became the first Knux track officially issued by Interscope, premiering in an episode from the fourth season of HBO's Entourage before a video followed. Their debut album, Remind Me in 3 Days..., appeared in 2008. The duo resurfaced in 2011 with the slickly produced sophomore set Eraser, which featured guests Natalia Kills, Kid Cudi, and Blake Miller. The KTWN EP, named after Los Angeles' Koreatown, arrived the next year, and their third effort, Eleven, was released in 2015.
