West Coast punk draws several of its more formidable figures together in the Night Marchers. Guitarist John Reis, known professionally as Speedo, assembled the group after leading Rocket from the Crypt, Drive Like Jehu, Pitchfork, the Sultans, and Hot Snakes. Though 2007 found him without a band while running Swami Records, constructing a studio, and opening San Diego, California’s Pink Elephant nightclub, Reis produced twenty fresh songs and chose to form a new ensemble to perform them.

He brought in former Hot Snakes guitarist Gar Wood, nicknamed Dner, and drummer Jason Kourkonis, who performs as Sinclair and had previously kept time with Hot Snakes, Bardo Pond, the Delta 72, and Mule. Montreal native Tommy Kitsos, a CPC Gangbangs veteran, supplied the bass, completing the quartet. The Night Marchers entered the studio late in 2007 and issued their first album, See You in Magic, through a joint Swami and Vagrant Records release in April 2008. Following an extended pause, the band delivered its sophomore effort, Allez Allez, in early 2013.
