Biography
The Perry Twins—real-life twin brothers Doug and Derek—first achieved visibility in the 2000s as backup dancers for Kristine W and Ari Gold, though their record-spinning career had already begun in the late ’90s. After circulating through the L.A. club network and building reputations as elite remix producers, the duo started attracting notice as an independent recording act by the decade’s close. Their first single, “Activate My Body,” which included soulful female vocals by Jania, fused a driving dance rhythm with a catchy 1990s dance-pop flavor and climbed the upper reaches of Billboard’s dance charts in early 2009. The follow-up, “Bad, Bad Boy,” leaned into the group’s established gay-club audience and became the most-played 12" by midsummer of that year.
