Originally a Miss America contestant who possessed genuine vocal ability, Kristine W. emerged during the mid-'90s as one of the most sought-after acts on dancefloors, releasing multiple singles that showcased her deeply soulful delivery and reached the top of the dance charts while also achieving strong placements on pop charts across most of Europe. Kristine Weitz grew up in a modest Washington State community and started performing vocally and through dance at a young age, securing victories in numerous talent competitions along with beauty pageants. After being named Miss Washington, she entered the Miss America pageant and earned the top spot in its talent segment. Relocating to Las Vegas shortly thereafter for studies and stage work, she advanced steadily until becoming the headline act in a production of her own at the Las Vegas Hilton, all while launching a recording career at the start of the '90s. Champion Records issued her 1994 single "Feel What You Want," which ascended to number one on the dance charts and landed in the Top Five across ten European territories. Its successor, "One More Try," matched that level of achievement and secured her a deal with major label RCA. In mid-1996 she issued her first full-length project, Land of the Living, then devoted four years to crafting the next album, Stronger.
