Biography
Long before commercial tallies defined their profile, Oscar Gaetan and Ralph Falcon of Murk enjoyed widespread regard inside club circles; that esteem preceded their emergence from the American dance mainstream via Funky Green Dogs’ two major 1996-97 successes, “Fired Up!” and “The Way.” Since the early ’90s the pair had operated Murk Recordings, securing steady club exposure through Liberty City tracks such as “Some Lovin’” and “If You Love Someone,” alongside their remixes for Madonna, Pet Shop Boys, the Beloved, RuPaul and additional artists. Work on a Liberty City album began in 1995, yet the finished set surfaced instead under the Funky Green Dogs name—an alias previously attached to only a single earlier release. Its lead track, “Fired Up!,” gained widespread dance-floor traction after Danny Tenaglia supplied remixes. Once Get Fired Up reached stores in late 1996, follow-up single “The Way” ascended to the top of the dance charts. For the subsequent album Star the duo recruited fresh vocalist Tamara, who hails from the Bahamas.
