K-Klass stood among the most consistently active remix outfits within Britain’s house landscape during the 1990s. The project took shape in the closing years of the 1980s when Andy Williams and Carl Thomas, formerly of the group Interstate that had shared stages with 808 State during the nascent house era, decided to form a new act. The pair, both from Wales, soon brought Paul Roberts and Russ Morgan into the fold, and the expanded lineup issued its first recordings on the Wildlife EP in 1990. Toward the end of the next year the single “Rhythm Is a Mystery” climbed into the national Top Five, after which the group maintained a steady presence on club playlists through subsequent releases such as “Don't Stop,” “Let Me Show You,” and “What You're Missing,” all drawn from the 1993 debut album Universal.

Midway through the decade K-Klass gradually departed from the strict conventions of British house in favor of a broader, more song-focused style that also incorporated elements of trance, nu-disco, and ambient-house. Their reworkings for Whitney Houston, Blondie, Frankie Knuckles, M People, Lulu, Bizarre Inc., and Bobby Brown each registered as notable dance-floor successes. The 1996 collection Remix and Additional Production underscored the team’s commitment to post-production work, while the 1998 album K2 introduced original material featuring guest vocalists that included Rachel McFarlane and Diane Charlemagne. Recognition arrived in 2002 with a Grammy nomination in the Best Remix category for their contribution to Samantha Mumba’s “Baby Come on Over.” In 2012 the duo launched the imprint Klass Action and placed the single “Rock the House” on the new label.
