Biography
In 2005 singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ryan Barrett started the Pica Beats in Seattle as his own solo venture. The self-released All Mysteries Solve Themselves arrived in 2007 and remained essentially a one-man recording. Seeking a richer palette that already stretched from sitar to bassoon, Barrett recruited drummer Colin English and an assortment of additional players to shape the group’s first Hardly Art album. Beating Back the Claws of the Cold surfaced in summer 2008 and drew parallels to the Decemberists and Neutral Milk Hotel alike.
