Biography
Hailing from Los Angeles, the four-piece Superbees charge vintage garage grooves with Iggy Pop's kinetic force, the Stones' cocky stride, and Thee Hypnotics' unruly assault. Around 1998 vocalist and guitarist Dave James launched the outfit alongside bassist Dat Ngo, after which the pair quickly took their MC5-inspired act on tour and issued the single Got This Feeling. Guitarist Scott Carlson and drummer Johnny Sleeper later completed the lineup. The Superbees delivered a self-titled EP in August 2000. Acetate Records released their debut album, High Volume—a satisfying set of stage-burning rock—in September 2002. The Top of the Rocks EP appeared in 2010.
