Techno artist Tommy Four Seven joined forces with mastering engineer Alain Paul—both U.K. natives now residing in Berlin, Germany—to establish the experimental electronic duo These Hidden Hands during 2012. Their output under the THH name favors dark, sensuous soundscapes marked by abrasive, fractured beats and discordant textures that align more closely with noise and industrial traditions than with Tommy’s club-oriented solo work. The act surfaced first through the 2013 single “Ivy,” which arrived accompanied by remixes from Lakker and Vatican Shadow. That release paved the way for a self-titled debut album on the duo’s own Hidden Hundred label, after which they began taking the project to the stage. Before the year closed, two additional remix EPs surfaced, incorporating reworkings by SHXCXCHCXSH and Kangding Ray among others. A subsequent partnership with experimental vocalist Lucrecia Dalt yielded the single “These Moments Dismantled,” issued in early 2016. Later that same year the duo released “SZ31X71,” presented alongside a Roly Porter remix; the track formed part of THH’s second album, Vicarious Memories.
