Thomas Anders, recognized primarily for serving as lead vocalist in the popular 1980s dance-pop pair Modern Talking, came into the world as Bernd Weidung on March 1, 1963, in Munstermaifeld, Germany. His vocal journey started at age seven through performances at neighborhood festivities and alongside his church choir. In 1983 he encountered producer and composer Dieter Bohlen, and the two launched Modern Talking, which delivered chart successes such as "You're My Heart, You're My Soul," "Brother Louie," and "Cheri Cheri Lady" until internal friction caused the act to disband in 1987. Two years afterward Anders released his first solo album, Different, which spawned the singles "Soldier," "One Thing," and "Love of My Own." Additional releases followed, among them the Spanish-language project Barcos de Cristal, until he rejoined Bohlen in 1994 to revive Modern Talking and, in 1998, issued the comeback collection Back for Good.
