Tinu Heiniger, a Swiss liedermacher born in Berne, Switzerland, launched his recording career during the 1970s on the independent Zytglogge imprint and later secured a contract with EMI after 2000, achieving modest placements inside the national Top 40. Rooted in folk traditions and delivered entirely in Bernese dialect, his later work also incorporates full orchestral scoring, a shift audible on the 2008 EMI release Bärg u Talsänger, itself one of his charting titles. His association with Zytglogge spanned fifteen years and opened with the 1976 album Es Schysst Mi A, followed by So Lüt, Wie Anger Lüt (1978), Mängisch Fägts No (1980), Live im Chrämerhuus (1982), Wassermelonemaa (1984), Sächs Liebeslieder un ei Tango (1986), Jede Chunnt u Jede Geit (1990), Mängisch Fägts No/Sächs Liebeslieder un ei Tango (1992), Läbe Wie Ne Chatz (1993), Morgeliecht (1996), Miss New Orleans (1999), and 2001 (2001). The move to EMI commenced with Heimatland in 2002 and produced consistent Top 40 entries, among them the follow-up albums Am See (2004) and Bärg u Talsänger (2008).
