Marco Bliggensdorfer first gained notice among Swiss and German rap listeners under the name Bligg, initially appearing as one member of the hip-hop duo Bligg 'n' Lexx. That partnership ranked among the earliest acts to record German-language hip-hop, issuing its debut album Schnitzeljagd in 1999 and the follow-up Nahdisnah the next year. The duo concluded its run with the 2000 release Du und lch. Bliggensdorfer promptly stepped forward as a solo performer, unveiling his first individual album Normal in 2001. Powered by the single “Alles Schomal Ghort,” the project registered immediate and sustained chart impact inside Switzerland. Three years of momentum built on Normal preceded the arrival of Odyssey in 2004. Bligg achieved his broadest breakthrough the following year through the mixtape-style Okey Dokey, Vol. 1, which drew contributions from several prominent German-language rappers such as Stress and Kool Savas. Although he already maintained a devoted audience, the Okey Dokey series—whose second installment appeared in 2007—extended his reach across wider segments of the genre. The Euro-rap veteran delivered his fifth original solo album, Yves Spink, during summer 2007. Amid swift expansion and evolving styles within German-language rap, artists and listeners alike continue to regard Bligg as both an originator and a continuing influence on the field.
