Steff la Cheffe, a Swiss rapper celebrated for her beatboxing talent, achieved her first Top Ten album success in 2010 via Bittersüessi Pille. Born Stefanie Peter in Bern, Switzerland, in 1987, she discovered hip-hop when her brother played her the classic Roots release Things Fall Apart (1999) along with tracks by the virtuoso beatboxer Rahzel. At sixteen she started performing live and quickly built a name for herself through her beatboxing. International exposure arrived in 2009 through tours alongside Swiss legend Andreas Vollenweider. Working with Bakara Music, she issued her solo debut Bittersüessi Pille in 2010. The album, which Swiss reggae singer Dodo produced and appeared on among other contributors, climbed to number seven on the Swiss albums chart and yielded the single "Annabelle."
