Born Sebastian Bürgin on September 6, 1986, in Gelterkinden, Basel-Landschaft, Swiss pop singer Baschi first entered the national spotlight through his stint on the television program MusicStar during its 2003-2004 run. Finishing sixth and falling short of victory, he nonetheless secured enough visibility to begin a solo trajectory. Universal issued the debut single “Diis Lied” in 2004, only months after the broadcast ended; the track registered just three weeks on the domestic chart and a peak of number 29. That modest showing nonetheless cleared the path for “Gib Mer ä Chance,” which logged 24 weeks and climbed to number two. While the single ascended, Universal released the self-titled album Baschi (2004), which reached the top position. The follow-up, Irgendwie Held (2005), arrived the next year and yielded the Top Ten single “Irgendwie Wunderbar” alongside the chart-topping “Bring en Hei.” Baschi maintained the pattern with Fürs Volk (2007), an album that also hit number one and featured the hits “Wenn das Gott Wüsst” and “Fürs Volk.”
