Biography
Formed in 2022 by three individuals sharing a college residence, Tiny Habits place their interlocking vocal lines at the forefront of hushed, acoustic arrangements. Rapid momentum carried the group from online virality to frequent stage appearances, drawing listeners toward both original material like “Mudroom” and “Flicker” and their interpretation of Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide.”
The lineup—singer/guitarists Maya Rae, Cinya Khan, and Judah Mayowa—first crossed paths as Berklee College of Music enrollees in 2021. Common tastes and an aptitude for layered harmonies prompted them to capture brief acoustic renditions inside their dormitory stairwell; those clips consistently outperformed other uploads, prompting the three to establish Tiny Habits the following year.
Praise arrived promptly and emphatically. David Crosby, recognized for his expertise in folk vocal traditions, offered early commendation, while recruitment by Berklee alum Lizzy McAlpine for her NPR Tiny Desk set—where the trio supplied harmonies and reimagined several tracks—expanded their reach. Original releases commenced that year with the singles “hemenway” and “one more,” followed by a self-titled EP in 2023 that again featured “Landslide.”
Throughout 2023 the group maintained an active schedule, supporting Ingrid Michaelson, Gracie Abrams, and Noah Kahan while also mounting their own summer headline dates. Further singles arrived that year—“Small Enough,” “Mudroom,” “Flicker,” and “I Don’t Have the Heart”—each echoing the earlier hypnotic vocal textures and atmospheric instrumentation; Tony Berg, previously linked with Phoebe Bridgers and Boygenius, handled production.
