Biography
Tobias Regner emerged as a rocker propelled into prominence by reality television, securing victory in the third season of the German program Deutschland Sucht den SuperStar. Born August 5, 1982, in Teisendorf, Bavaria, he trained in classical and jazz piano during childhood before shifting toward rock music, leading the heavy metal outfit Black Jack's during his teenage years. He later participated in bands such as Plutone, Ge'läck, and Melock even as he pursued communications studies at the Universität Salzburg. Upon completing his degree in summer 2005, Regner tried out for Deutschland Sucht den SuperStar and advanced as one of 18 finalists selected from 14,000 hopefuls. During the show's March 19, 2006 conclusion, he surpassed Mike Leon Grosch to claim the win with approximately 55 percent of the viewer votes. A month afterward, his debut album Straight reached the top of the charts, delivering his initial number one hit "I Still Burn," whereas the next release "She's So" only managed to enter the lower reaches of the German Top 40.
