Biography
Tribal Tech, the virtuosic jazz fusion ensemble, originated in 1984 when guitarist Scott Henderson and bassist Gary Willis joined forces, issuing their first recording Spears the next year. Through later releases such as Dr. Hee in 1987, Nomad in 1990, and Illicit in 1992, Henderson and Willis each rose to prominence among the era’s top contemporary jazz instrumentalists, regularly claiming the top spots on music-magazine best-of lists. After Reality Check appeared in 1995 the band entered a hiatus that let its members concentrate on solo work, returning four years afterward to record Thick. Rocket Science reached stores in fall 2000.
