New York-based rapper Tropico blends contemporary production touches with nods to the city’s foundational hip-hop lineage, resulting in a sound that feels both current and rooted. Born in the Bronx, he started gaining traction following the 2019 EP Who Am I. Queens rapper Rich the Kid took notice, placing Tropico on the Rich Forever imprint and joining him on the tracks “Crazy” and “G Wagon.” Backed by the label, Tropico continued issuing projects such as the 2020 mixtape Recently Added and 2021’s DONATUS.
