TT emerged as the solo outlet for Warpaint guitarist Theresa Wayman, echoing the atmospheric qualities of her primary group while incorporating lo-fi electronics and lyrics drawn from more intimate territory, as heard on the 2018 release LoveLaws.

Warpaint bassist Jenny Lee Lindberg became the first member to step out alone when she issued Right On! in 2015. After the band delivered its third album, Heads Up, in 2016, Wayman felt the moment had arrived to pursue her own project. She tracked the material across her L.A. home studio, in London, and while traveling, co-producing alongside Dan Carey and her brother Ivan. Fellow Warpaint members lent their talents, as did Beastie Boys keyboardist Money Mark, though Wayman handled nearly every instrument herself. The finished record, LoveLaws, arrived in 2018 and preserved traces of the band’s dark, psychedelic edge even as it shifted toward a lo-fi electronic palette; its themes also turned more personal, reflecting Wayman’s own experience of motherhood.
