Two Fingers

Amon Tobin, the Brazilian-born pioneer of electro-jazz, breaks, and jungle, joined forces with U.K. drum'n'bass artist Doubleclick (Joe Chapman) to launch Two Fingers, a project whose several guest MCs supply essential vocal input. The producers first crossed paths while Tobin resided in Brighton, U.K., then reconvened in Montreal during 2007 to shape a batch of recordings that extended earlier joint work—most notably the dense, pummeling 2003 track "Ownage"—yet steered decisively toward a fresh, high-impact sound laced with raw dancehall, dubstep, and grime. After the singles "That Girl" and "What You Know," the self-titled debut appeared in spring 2009, carrying vocals from dancehall star Ce'Cile, one-time Missy Elliott protégé Ms. Jade, and, across seven of the album's twelve tracks, the charismatic, long-up-and-coming British rapper Sway.
