Biography
Italian pianist Vanessa Benelli Mosell started piano lessons at age 3 before entering the International Piano Academy in Imola at 7, where Franco Scala guided her training. She relocated to London in 2007 for studies at the Royal College of Music under Dmitri Alexeev and completed her degree there in 2012. Benelli Mosell received the Elba Festival Prize along with the top honor at the Pietrasanta International Dance and Visual Arts Festival. Her concert schedule has taken her across China, North America, and South America, with additional appearances in the Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, England, Israel, Russia, and Turkey. She has appeared as soloist with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Symphony Orchestra, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, and the Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna. In 2012 she joined the Moscow Soloists, stepping into the role previously held by Martha Argerich. Karlheinz Stockhausen served as her mentor; she presented a marathon program of his compositions and captured Klavierstück XII on disc. Beyond that focus, her programs encompass core Romantic and modern repertoire, with recordings devoted to works by Chopin, Liszt, Scriabin, Mussorgsky, Debussy, Stravinsky, Rachmaninov, and Glass. She releases recordings on the Decca label and holds the title of Steinway Artist.
