A guitarist from Washington, D.C., Vernon Burch first gained notice backing the Delfonics for two years after joining them at age 13. He went on to perform with the Stairsteps and spent four years in the Bar-Kays before launching his own recording career on United Artists in 1975, later moving to Columbia, Chocolate City, and Spector. Only two of his singles charted in the R&B Top 20: “Changes (Messin’ with My Mind)” in 1975 and “Do It to Me” in 1981.
