Biography
Worldbeat artist Wayne Gorbea weaves African-oriented stylings into Cuban traditional forms, generating a potent musical atmosphere on par with leading mainstream Cuban acts. A robust trombone section allows Gorbea to channel multiple strains of Latin-infused aesthetics suited equally to dance music and world music, with that compositional approach preserved on his Shanachie debut Cogele El Gusto in 1999. The follow-up release Saboreando Salsa Dur el en Bronx arrived a year later and spotlighted Gorbea's New York roots.
