In 1973 the single "Last Kiss" brought Wednesday widespread attention once it surpassed 200,000 copies sold inside the United States. Formed in Canada, the ensemble featured Paul Andrew Smith on guitar, keyboards, and vocals, Mike O'Neil on guitar, harp, and vocals, Randy Begg on drums, guitar, and vocals, and John Dufek on bass, harp, and vocals; their first album, Last Kiss, appeared in 1974. Loving You Baby arrived two years afterward. Randy Begg succumbed to a heart attack on December 20, 2022, at his residence in Belleville, Ontario, Canada, aged 71.
