Biography
Wet Paint, a Chicago garage rock outfit, issued two singles on minor imprints across 1966 and 1967, three of the four tracks being originals credited to lead singer and keyboardist Bill Giardini. Those efforts came across as standard, undistinguished numbers, with the strongest likely their opening release “Shame,” driven by its persistent shuffle beat and blues-garage-pop character. By the late 1960s several members had launched the Stanley Moss Band, while others briefly joined the counterfeit Zombies that played U.S. dates after “Time of the Season” turned into a hit following the dissolution of the celebrated British ensemble. Every track from the Wet Paint singles, together with one previously unreleased cut, surfaces on the anthology Just for Kicks Vol. 1.
