Biography
Serving as a raw folk and blues endeavor on the side, White Hassle brought together vocalist and guitarist Marcellus Hall with vocalist and pots 'n' pans player Dave Varenka, who were already established as core members of the alternative rock outfit Railroad Jerk. Following a small number of early shows where they opened for Skeleton Key and Cat Power, the project released its first album, the 1997 effort National Chain, which combined original junkyard ballads with renditions of material from Hank Williams, George Jones, and Ray Charles.
