White Violet, an Athens, Georgia outfit devoted to a melancholic strain of bedtime folky dream pop, revolves around the songwriting and vocals of guitarist Nate Nelson. The project originated in casual, spontaneous sessions inside Nelson’s bedroom before taking the name White Violet in 2012, the same year the group began performing live and issued its first album, Hiding, Mingling, with Andy LeMaster engineering the sessions. Their follow-up, Stay Lost, was recorded in Kernersville, North Carolina, co-produced by Nelson alongside engineer and mixer Scott Solter, and appeared in autumn 2014. Opting against another immediate full-length, the band instead parceled its subsequent material into successive digital installments, launching the sequence in May 2016 with Ages, Vol. 1 and continuing to issue pairs of songs until the fifth volume completed the set. In 2017 those ten tracks were gathered into the complete Ages LP, which was then issued in physical form.
