Witchdoctor

Witchdoctor emerged from Georgia as a driven force in hip-hop, merging Afrocentric spirituality with soul, rap, and urban R&B. His first album, A S.W.A.T. Healin' Ritual, arrived via Interscope in 1997 after production work from Organized Noise. Dungeon Family affiliation led the MC to contribute to multiple projects by fellow members such as OutKast and Goodie Mob, even as he issued his own material through the Dezonly1 imprint. Williams Street Records, the [adult swim] label, secured his signature in 2007, resulting in the October release of the full-length The Diary of an American Witchdoctor. That project combined selections from earlier recordings with fresh material and was supported by a brief college tour alongside Wu-Tang favorite Ghostface Killah.
