Emerging as a Latin pop and salsa star, Yiyo Sarante—born Eduardo Sarante—launched his music career in childhood by working as a percussionist. Raised in the Dominican Republic’s Bani, Peravia province, as the seventh of nine children in a musical family, he first performed with local Dominican orchestras before taking a singing post at a resort; in 2003 he entered the orchestra run by his brother Julián Sarante. Teaming with his producer sibling José Sarante in 2010, he began issuing recordings under the Yiyo Sarante name.
