Distinguishing the Boston-based psych-stoner-doom outfit 5ive from the British boy band sharing its name (heavens no!), the project originated as an instrumental duo built around guitarist Ben Carr and drummer Charlie Harrold. Under the guidance of specialist indie imprint Tortuga, the self-titled 2001 debut first appeared solely on vinyl before a CD edition was eventually issued. Later that same year a follow-up arrived, cryptically titled Telestic Disfracture, incorporating sporadic vocal appearances by Milligram’s Jonah J. Jenkins, after which the group has remained silent in more recent times.
