Stirring rustic folk blues with retro-soul and traces of modern R&B, Fort Worth, Texas-based singer Abraham Alexander has shaped a restrained yet forceful sound uniquely his own. He first issued material under his own name in 2019, starting with several singles before unveiling a self-titled EP later that year. Further singles followed, among them a 2022 remix of “Stay” that brought in Gary Clark Jr. and the organ-rich soul ballad “Tears Run Dry,” both preceding his debut full-length, Sea/Sons, in 2023.

Born in Greece, Alexander moved with his family to Texas at age 11. While playing soccer for Texas Wesleyan University he sustained an injury; his girlfriend then gave him an acoustic guitar, prompting him to teach himself the instrument and begin writing songs during recovery. Within a few years he started recording and sharing his work publicly, beginning with a blues-inflected cover of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game” in April 2019. He next offered the updated “Lover’s Game” and “Stay,” then collected both originals plus two additional unreleased songs on his self-titled EP, released in September 2019. In September 2022 he returned to “Stay” with Gary Clark, Jr. featured on a new version. “Heart of Gold” appeared in November 2022, followed in February 2023 by “Tears Run Dry,” the first single drawn from his forthcoming album Sea/Sons. That project was tracked in London with producers Matt Pence and Brad Cook and scheduled for release on Dualtone Records in April 2023.
