Biography
Ruarri Joseph built his reputation through years spent with multiple U.K. bands before those experiences sharpened his skills enough to secure a 2006 contract with Atlantic. Originally from Newquay, Cornwall, he began by touring alongside Eli Bowen, the Rhythm Doctors—who gave him his first Glastonbury appearance in 2004—and Joseph and the Dads. In October 2005 he chose to perform alone, limiting himself to acoustic guitar and occasional piano. An EP followed, along with several favorably received London gigs that drew attention from multiple labels. Atlantic proved the best match, issuing his debut album, Tales of Grime and Grit, in July 2007. He closed out that year opening for David Gray and securing his own slot at the 2007 Glastonbury Festival.
