Biography
Formed in 2014 in Los Angeles, California, the extreme metal supergroup Act of Defiance assembled guitarists Chris Broderick and Shawn Drover, both Megadeth members, alongside Shadows Fall guitarist Matt Bachand and Scar the Martyr vocalist Henry Derek. Their muscular sound, rooted in thrash, Scandinavian metal, and American hardcore, and bolstered by an impressive collective history, drew the interest of Metal Blade, which released the quartet's debut studio long-player, Birth and the Burial, in 2015. Two years later Act of Defiance delivered the follow-up Old Scars, New Wounds, mixed by Dave Otero (Allegaeon, Cephalic Carnage, Vale of Pnath), which contained the single "M.I.A."
