Originating from Harlem, the rapper A$AP Ferg earned recognition for his daring and inventive methods within the genre as a founding participant in A$AP Mob, quickly becoming one of its standout figures. At first he handled the crew’s primary clothing designs, yet his alliance with A$AP Rocky prompted fresh production approaches and an unconventional vocal style that shaped his independent output. Those distinctive traits translated into commercial traction, yielding Top Ten placements for the studio albums Trap Lord (2013) and Always Strive and Prosper (2016) while also registering solid chart results with mixtapes such as 2020’s Floor Seats II. In the years since, he has maintained a steady flow of new singles while preparing his next studio effort, AF5*, slated for possible release sometime in 2024.

A$AP Ferg and A$AP Rocky initially envisioned themselves as the crew’s Mobb Deep-like duo, though solo paths ultimately proved more fruitful, starting with Rocky and his 2012 series of mixtapes. Ferg’s breakthrough arrived the same year when “Work” emerged as the standout selection on A$AP Mob’s Lords Never Worry mixtape. The early-2013 announcement of his RCA signing preceded an all-star remix of “Work” that added Trinidad James, French Montana, and ScHoolboy Q. Later that year “Persian Wine” appeared, followed by the solo album Trap Lord. His Ferg Forever mixtape surfaced in 2014 and produced the 2015 hit “Dope Walk.” A year afterward, the Future-assisted “New Level” accompanied the sophomore album Always Strive and Prosper, which featured guest contributions from Missy Elliott, Chuck D, Skrillex, and Lil Uzi Vert. In 2017 Ferg joined Remy Ma for the hard-hitting single “East Coast,” which preceded the summer arrival of his second mixtape, Still Striving. That project contained a remix of “East Coast” with Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dogg, and Rick Ross plus the single “Plain Jane,” his highest-charting solo track to date. Ferg’s summer also included A$AP Mob’s Cozy Tapes, Vol. 2, which reached number six on the Billboard 200.

Throughout 2018 he issued collaborative singles such as “Kristi” with Denzel Curry, IDK, and NickNack and “Moon River” with actress Elle Fanning. The 2019 single “Pups” featuring A$AP Rocky later appeared on the EP Floor Seats, which also included MadeinTYO, Rico Nasty, Ty Dolla $ign, and additional guests; upon release the set debuted at number 50 on the Billboard 200. Early 2020 delivered several singles, among them “Value” and the Nicki Minaj and MadeinTYO collaboration “Move Ya Hips,” which were gathered in September on the mixtape Floor Seats II. That project further showcased Diddy, Lil Wayne, Tyga, and Marilyn Manson and spent time in the lower reaches of the Billboard 200. Over the next several years Ferg released tracks such as the 2021 Pharrell Williams collaboration “Green Juice” and 2024’s “Off White Rozay,” while also appearing on assorted songs with other artists.
