Biography
During the second half of the 1990s, Philadelphia drummer Mike Kennedy played in prominent local acts including Lefty's Deceiver and Mesmer. Early in 2000 he launched a solo endeavor that took the name Audible. Musician Mary Garito came aboard in time to appear at the project’s debut concert, an opening set for Bright Eyes. Guitarist Jim Kehoe entered the lineup in 2001, yet touring commitments alongside matt pond PA kept both him and Kennedy off the road for the following two years. The Audible name stayed dormant until 2003, when Lefty’s Deceiver bassist Kris Muller joined the roster. Throughout the ensuing twelve months the band refined its sophisticated indie-rock approach. A split EP with Adam Arcuragi, Opening Acts and Great Surprises, appeared on an independent label in early 2004. Drummer Steve Cawley signed on just before the Swivel Chairs collaboration Sidetrack Stars was tracked that July. The group’s first full-length album, Sky Signal, reached stores via Polyvinyl in January 2005.
