Biography
A fictional boy band formed expressly for the 2024 film The Idea of You, August Moon delivers buoyant, melody-driven pop echoing the style of One Direction, Maroon 5, and BTS. Nicholas Galitzine, cast as the group's frontman, guided the act onto the U.S. Heatseekers chart along with the U.K. soundtrack and compilation charts via the singles "Guard Down" and "Dance Before We Walk."
Comedy veteran Michael Showalter directed and co-wrote the romantic comedy-drama The Idea of You, drawn from Robinne Lee's novel. The picture premiered in March 2024 at the South by Southwest Film Festival, where it earned an Audience Award nomination, then reached a wider audience in May. Anne Hathaway stars as a divorced art gallery owner who, after taking her teenage daughter and friends to Coachella, encounters August Moon frontman Hayes Campbell (Galitzine). At that stage Galitzine's résumé already featured his portrayal of the Prince in the 2021 musical film Cinderella alongside Camila Cabello.
The soundtrack LP, issued by Arista in March 2024, contains seven original tracks plus acoustic and remix editions, all written by Savan Kotecha (Sam Smith, the Weeknd, Demi Lovato) and sung by Galitzine, who recruited additional studio collaborators to complete August Moon. Professional dancers appear onscreen as the band. Music supervisor Frankie Pine (Daisy Jones & the Six) remained closely engaged throughout production. Singles including "Dance Before We Walk" and "Guard Down" preceded the movie's broader release, and the album later entered the Top Ten of the Billboard Heatseekers chart while claiming the top spot on the U.K. soundtrack chart.
