Ausgang

Ausgang ranked among the more obscure British outfits tied to the goth underground in the early and middle years of the 1980s. Between 1982 and 1987 the band released exactly one album, one mini-album, and a small number of 7" and 12" singles. Its Batcave-derived approach featured jagged guitars, rigid drumming that blended punk and funk rhythms, abrupt shouted vocals, lyrics built from bleak and detached tirades, and almost no melodic content. Even next to fellow goth acts such as Alien Sex Fiend, Ausgang registered scant presence in the United States, where awareness of the group remained minimal. A 2001 compilation titled Last Exit...The Best of Ausgang collected the bulk of its recordings.
