Ayo Maff has channeled his blend of raw Nigerian street rap and melodic Afrobeats into widespread national recognition along with several prominent collaborations. The teenage rapper and singer first attracted notice during 2023 through tracks such as "Journey" and "Another Day," later joining Fireboy DLM for the 2024 hit "Dealer" that broadened his audience just before the arrival of his 2024 EP Maffian.
Born Ayorinde Mafoluku Ayodele, Ayo Maff spent his early years in the Lagos State suburb of Barigo, where he started rapping and composing songs while still very young. Regional music plugger Olaitan Salaudeen became an early supporter, assisting with the release and promotion of his material. At just 17, songs including 2023’s "Saturday Night" and "Journey" began gaining traction. Within the following year he sustained that progress through "Jama Jama" and "7 Days," polished midtempo pieces whose maturity contrasted with his youth. Greater names soon took interest, leading to his collaboration with Fireboy DLM on "Dealer," a hit throughout the first half of 2024. Later that year Maff issued his debut EP, Maffian, via Lagos-based Oceanstreet Creative, and he joined Taves and L.A.X. for the single "Let Me Know."
