Biography
Active only briefly from 2001 to 2004, the urban boy band B2K achieved notable commercial success highlighted by the chart-topping single “Bump, Bump, Bump,” and served as the launching point for member Omarion’s solo trajectory. Under the management of Chris Stokes, who also represented Marques Houston, the quartet consisted of Omarion (born Omari Grandberry on November 12, 1984), Lil Fizz (Dreux Frederic; November 26, 1985), Raz-B (DeMario Thornton; June 13, 1985), and J-Boog (Jarell Houston; August 11, 1985). Their first single, “Uh Huh,” arrived in late 2001, followed in 2002 by the self-titled debut album B2K, which yielded two further singles in “Gots ta Be” and “Why I Love You.” Two of the three tracks (“Uh Huh” and “Gots ta Be”) reached the Top 40, driving the album to a number-two peak and gold certification. Their sophomore release, Pandemonium! (2002), expanded on that momentum and attained platinum status while featuring the number-one single “Bump, Bump, Bump.” In January 2004 the group appeared in the motion picture You Got Served and contributed to its soundtrack. Around the same period Stokes declared the band’s dissolution, attributing the split to internal disagreements. Omarion, meanwhile, quickly established a successful solo path, entering the charts at number one with his 2005 album O.
