Biography
In 1992, four high-school companions from Baltimore—Larry "Jazz" Anthony, Mark "Sisqó" Andrews, Tamir "Nokio" Ruffin, and James "Woody Rock" Green—launched Dru Hill, taking the name from their local Druid Hill Park. The singers appeared at the Impact '96 music-industry gathering and secured a deal with Island soon afterward. Their self-titled debut album, shaped by Keith Sweat, Stanley Brown, and Tim "Dawg" Patterson, reached stores late in 1996. Pulled from the Eddie film soundtrack, the single "Tell Me" rose to a Top Five R&B placement and later earned gold certification. Enter the Dru arrived in 1998 and climbed to number two on the Billboard album chart. Even after Sisqó scored solo success with "Thong Song," the lineup stayed together, added Scola, and delivered Dru World Order in 2002, two years past its original target date. Hits surfaced in 2005 and ultimately moved three million copies. After Scola gave way to Antwuan "Tao" Simpson, the group issued its fourth studio album, Indrupendence Day, in 2010. The reunion became the centerpiece of Platinum House, a reality series created by Keith Sweat and shown on the Centric channel.
