Day26 came together as a vocal ensemble whose style merged the harmonies of 112 with those of an urbanized *NSYNC during the fourth season of MTV’s Making the Band. The group’s name directly commemorates August 26, 2007, the day the reality series converted its finalists—Brian Andrews, Mike McCluney, Qwanell Mosley, Robert Curry, and Willie Taylor—into major-label recording artists. After claiming victory on the program, Day26 secured an immediate contract with Bad Boy Records from label head Sean “Puffy” Combs. Combs then teamed the quintet with producer Mario Winans to create the debut single “Got Me Going,” which appeared in February 2008; their self-titled debut album arrived the following March.
