Biography
The New York City quartet Bad Ronald takes its name from a little-known made-for-TV movie released in 1974. This act merged seamlessly into the early-2000s wave of irreverent rap-pop acts exemplified by the Bloodhound Gang. Formed by three MCs and one DJ—Ray, White Owl, Kaz Gamble, and DJ Deetlax—the members first connected in the late ’90s while navigating the city’s DJ circuit and harboring a shared goal of assembling a band that fused rap, pop, rock, and juvenile comedy. Their self-titled debut appeared on the Reprise label in 2001.
