Bandana

A casting call arranged by the television program Popstars in mid-2001 attracted nearly three thousand Argentinean teenagers hoping to form a fresh Latin teen pop act. Ivonne Guzmán, Lourdes Fernández, Virginia Da Cunha, Valeria Gastaldi, and Lissa Vera emerged as the chosen members and pooled their vocal and dance talents under the name Bandana. The ensemble’s debut album quickly earned platinum status after its launch. At the same time the five young women headed to the United States for promotional appearances in New York and Miami, then staged three sold-out concerts at Buenos Aires’ Rex theater, one of the city’s most distinguished venues.
