Biography
Baritone Benjamin Bevan received scholarship support while studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. His initial professional engagement took place at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, where he portrayed Henry Cuffe in Britten’s Gloriana; he later made his Scottish Opera debut in the role of Marcello for Puccini’s La bohème. Additional parts in his repertory encompass Lescaut from Henze’s Boulevard Solitude, Roderick in Getty’s Usher House, the Ferryman in Britten’s Curlew River, and Count Almaviva from Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro. On the concert platform he has collaborated with Wroclaw Baroque, the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, Bach Collegium Japan, the Royal Northern Sinfonia, and the London Bach Society. For Signum Classics he has documented selections of Handel’s music.
