Biography
Benjamin Cohen, who performs as Benjamin Diamond, joined the wave of French house producers that emerged throughout the 1990s after beginning his own path in punk rock. His earliest band, Chicken Pops, gave way to fresh influences from New Order, Michael Jackson, and Roxy Music, steering him toward electro-funk and into the ranks of the Party. Although that group found a measure of success inside France, its profile was eclipsed by the formation of Stardust alongside Alan Braxe and Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk. Diamond supplied the vocals for Stardust’s 1998 single “Music Sounds Better With You,” an international success. In 2001 he issued his debut album Strange Attitude, which featured the earlier singles “Joyride” and “Strange Attitude.” The same year he released the EP Solitaire, whose tracks had been prepared specifically for the Dior spring-summer fashion parade.
