Known primarily for his recurring role among the panelists of the enduring satirical program 7 Tage, 7 Köpfe, which translates to 7 Days, 7 Heads, the German comedian and actor Bernd Stelter has released multiple hit standup recordings back home along with a few novelty singles that caught on. His path to wider recognition began after he had logged considerable time performing in local comedy venues, when radio exposure brought him to a national audience. Television beckoned in 1996 with the debut of 7 Tage. The program quickly gained traction thanks to its biting, witty, and irreverent take on topical news. During production hiatuses, Stelter embarked on nationwide standup tours, one of which was the 2000 Geschichten aus der Vorstadt outing that later appeared on both television and compact disc. Among his popular novelty tracks were "Margarine," a send-up of "Macarena," and his rendition of the Goombay Dance Band classic "Sun of Jamaica" alongside De Bläck Fööss; likewise successful was the 2005 album Pubertät Ist Mehr als Pickel, drawn from the well-attended tour bearing the identical title that moved 200,000 tickets.
